NCCU student tested positive without entering campus

According to the Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC)'s announcement dated March 26, 2020, an out-bound NCCU exchange student to Europe was listed as a confirmed case. Please note that this student went straight back to the residence for home quarantine by taxi after arriving in Taiwan without entering our campus. We also have two students currently under self-isolation.

The development is closely monitored by NCCU administration. The risk to other students and staff remains low, and below are the precautions taken at NCCU campus to prevent the coronavirus spreading:

Restricted access to sports facilities from March 30, 2020

Effective from Monday, March 30, 2020, NCCU gyms and swimming pool will only be open for NCCU PE classes and NCCU school sports teams for training purpose.

Further notice on the refund of gym and swimming pool memberships will be announced later.

Limited entry to NCCU

NCCU campus is closed to the public starting from March 27, 2020. Only NCCU faculty, staff, students and visitors with prior permission are allowed to enter the campus.

Any visitor for business purpose must submit the complete NCCU COVID-19 Disclosure Statement to the unit you plan to visit at least three working days before the visiting date, and present your invitation letter when entering NCCU campus.

Pause on nonessential travel

The coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak has become a global pandemic. Since international travelers currently run an escalating risk of infection, all NCCU faculty, staff and students are strongly advised to avoid any nonessential travel abroad, and all inbound travelers should abide by relevant quarantine measures to ensure the health and well-being of the NCCU community.

According to the Central Epidemic Commend Center (CECC), all foreign visitors are barred from entering Taiwan effective from March 19. If you do not have an ARC, you will not be able to return Taiwan if going abroad.

For the person who had possible contact with infected person

Any NCCU community member who had possible contact with the confirmed COVID-19 case is subject to 14 days of home-isolation by law. Students in such circumstances can arrange for distance learning or make arrangements with their instructors for flexible learning.

To prevent coronavirus spreading at NCCU campus, faculty, staff and students recently returning from abroad are advised to remain self-monitoring for an additional two weeks once the initial 14-day self-isolation period has expired, for a total of 28 days. During this period, please do not go to public places, including the university campus and social gatherings.
