On 27 August 2025, The Office of International Programs (OIP) proudly hosted the much-anticipated International Exchange Programs Orientation, welcoming a vibrant cohort of international students to National Chengchi University, College of Commerce (NCCUC). The day was a celebration of cultural exchange, practical guidance, and heartfelt hospitality, setting the tone for an enriching semester ahead.
The event was opened with infectious energy by the International Programs Ambassadors (IPAs), who’re dynamic ice-breakers instantly captivated the audience and fostered a sense of community. Their presentations offered a deep dive into life in Taiwan, beginning with the Taiwan Marathon, a curated journey through the island’s most iconic experiences. From the breathtaking Taroko Gorge and sun-kissed Kenting Beach to the flavours of night market street food and the rhythms of traditional festivals like the Moon Festival and Chinese New Year, students were given a vivid preview of life beyond the classroom.
Next, the One Day at NCCU presentation brought campus life to the forefront. Exchange students were guided through a typical day on campus, from attending lectures and grabbing lunch at local eateries to joining student clubs, hitting the gym, and exploring study and recreational spaces. The IPAs also demystified the NCCU system, ensuring students felt confident navigating the student portal and their new academic environment.
The indoor session concluded with an insightful address by senior manager Cherry Huang from the Office of International Programs. She emphasized the OIP’s role as the central support hub for exchange students, outlining services such as academic advising, visa assistance, health checks, buddy programs, and summer program opportunities.
Following the presentations, students embarked on a campus tour led by the IPAs, gaining firsthand familiarity with their new surroundings. The adventure continued with a cultural excursion to Yilan County, where students savored authentic Taiwanese cuisine for lunch before diving into a hands-on DIY glove puppet workshop at the National Center for Traditional Arts. Under the guidance of a master puppeteer, students learned about traditional puppet roles and techniques, crafting their own puppets to take home as souvenirs. The day’s final chapter unfolded at the Luodong Night Market, where students explored Taiwan’s culinary treasures and soaked in the vibrant local atmosphere.
From campus to countryside, the orientation offered a warm and immersive welcome to Taiwan. With hearts full and minds inspired, our exchange students are now ready to embrace their journey at NCCU and beyond.
Welcome to Taiwan. Welcome to NCCUC. Let the adventure begin.
