On June 2nd, the Master’s Program in Global Communication and Innovation Technology (GCIT) at National Chengchi University hosted its end-of-semester internship showcase for the Spring 2025 semester. The event highlighted students’ exceptional achievements across digital media, innovative technology, and intercultural communication. This semester’s internships spanned a diverse range of sectors—including media, technology, and marketing—featuring notable partners such as TaiwanPlus, Radio Taiwan International, cloud gaming platform Ubitus, digital marketing firm iProspect, AMT Asia Pacific Digital Alliance, social enterprise NEED, and technology company Saint Young Technology. These partnerships provided students with rich opportunities for practical learning and cross-disciplinary application.

Real-World Media Experience: TaiwanPlus Fosters Global Talent

TaiwanPlus served as the largest internship partner this semester, hosting six students in various departments. Thana, from Thailand, interned in the Programming team, leading bilingual audiovisual content planning and contributing to the Learn with Mandarin video series. She noted, “Working with an international team helped me truly appreciate the importance of cultural sensitivity in global communication.”

Helen, also in the Programming team, focused on video editing and large-scale project management, exploring cost-effective content strategies. She said the internship helped her clarify her professional role and taught her to balance creativity with sensitivity to complex topics.

In the PR department, Vichy and Karolina participated in press release writing, event visuals, and background research. Vichy leveraged her previous overseas experience to help TaiwanPlus build collaborations with partners in Mexico, showcasing her excellent cross-cultural communication skills.

In the administration department, Claire attended cross-departmental meetings and contributed to official document drafting, price negotiation, and data visualization, demonstrating impressive multitasking abilities. Ming, working in PR, specialized in profiling and background research to enhance team communication and information management.

Anne, interning at Radio Taiwan International, supported podcast production and conducted research on eight international partner universities with signed MOUs. She also assisted with VIP visits and event planning, demonstrating a unique blend of administrative and academic research skills.

Digital Marketing and AI Applications: Bringing Innovative Tech into Business

At AMT Asia Pacific Digital Alliance, two interns showcased their ability to integrate technology into marketing. Jubal utilized MarTech and generative AI tools to assist in white paper development, analyzing market insights and crafting strategic recommendations. Christine served as project management assistant for the Asia Pacific Brand Summit, creating automated workflows and QR code systems. She shared, “User experience design principles from NCCU’s HCI course directly informed how I optimized our workflows.”

Justin, an intern at iProspect, contributed to Dentsu Group’s “North Star Project,” focusing on brand communication and cross-team strategy alignment, displaying strong integrated marketing expertise.

Social Impact and Innovative Education: Using Technology to Tackle Social Challenges

Honoka, an intern at NEED, explored how technology can support youth mental health and address digital addiction through social media management and project design. She shared, “My internship made me think about how social platforms can help vulnerable communities rebuild their confidence—truly meaningful social practice.”

Entertainment Technology: Innovative Marketing and Cross-Department Collaboration

At Ubitus, Izzie supported AI Expo events and VTuber-related marketing projects, creating social content and visual design materials. She said, “Participating in large-scale exhibitions and marketing initiatives gave me a deeper understanding of the gaming and tech industry.”

Alex, interning at Saint Young Technology, worked on marketing copy for the Indonesian market, using tools like Emplifi and GWI to conduct market research and strengthen his digital marketing skills.

International Exposure: Singapore Film Industry Internship

Alex also shared his experience interning at the Singapore Film Society, where he conducted pre-screening AV checks to ensure technical standards and had the opportunity to view a variety of film festival works. He also participated in director and creator interviews, learning professional questioning techniques and the nuances of different cultural contexts. Despite Singapore’s higher living costs, Alex encouraged his peers to pursue overseas internships, expressing gratitude for GCIT’s financial support, which eased the economic burden and allowed him to focus on learning and growth.

Distinguished Professor Trisha Lin, Director of GCIT, praised the students’ outstanding performance: “Our students demonstrated remarkable professionalism and adaptability in their internships. Whether in digital content creation, media communication, or marketing technology, they were able to apply what they learned in class and quickly integrate into real-world environments, making a tangible impact.” She encouraged students to leverage their internship experience to refine their career paths and explore future opportunities. Professor Lin also highlighted that many students received high praise from their host organizations, underscoring their valuable contributions and strong capabilities.

This internship showcase underscored GCIT students’ core competencies in the digital era, bridging theory and practice to build a solid foundation for their future careers in relevant industries.
