On November 14, 2024, Professor Wan-Ying Yang, Dean of the College of Social Sciences (CSS) at National Chengchi University (NCCU), visited the College of Political Science and Economics at Korea University to explore possibilities for academic collaboration. Dean Jun Koo responded enthusiastically and pledged to initiate substantive cooperation as soon as possible.

The cooperation began to take shape in early 2025. On February 18, Professor Joo-Youn Jung from the Department of Political Science and International Relations at Korea University, with support from the university and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Korea, came to NCCU to teach an intensive course titled "Understanding Korean Politics and Economy." Undergraduate students from the CSS who complete the course will not only receive a certificate of completion, but the top-performing student on the final assessment will be selected to attend Korea University's summer program. Korea University will provide accommodation and tuition-free instruction, while the CSS will assist in subsidizing airfare to support the student’s participation in Korea.

Even more significant, on March 23, Dean Jun Koo and Associate Dean Yoonsuh Jung of Korea University flew to Taipei to officially sign a student exchange agreement with the College of Social Sciences at NCCU. In addition, they delivered two academic lectures in English, analyzing fertility rates and the sense of happiness in Korea and Taiwan. Beyond the academic activities, they gained first-hand experience of NCCU’s culture and campus life, including visits to the Dah Hsian Library, a cable car ride to Maokong, and a dinner gathering with students from CSS international programs and the Graduate Institute of Development Studies. Following enthusiastic recommendations from NCCU Korean students, they also sampled the popular local Taiwanese breakfast just outside the university gate.

Before their departure, both Dean Jun Koo and Associate Dean Yoonsuh Jung expressed deep appreciation for the hospitality and fruitful discussions during their visit. They shared their high expectations for future cooperation and praised CSS for its strong commitment to English-taught programs and internationalization. Dean Wan-Ying Yang also emphasized that in recent years, the College has actively sought collaborations with leading Korean universities. Following the partnership with Yonsei University, Korea University has now also become CSS’s major academic partner in Korea. She encouraged students to seize exchange opportunities and broaden their academic and global horizons by studying at internationally renowned institutions.
