Assistant Professor Tim Chun-Hao Chang of National Chengchi University’s Master’s Program in Global Communication and Innovation Technology (GCIT) represented the program at the 2026 Annual Conference of the International Association for Media and Communication Research (IAMCR), held at the University of Galway in Ireland from June 28 to July 2, 2026.

During the conference, Chang introduced GCIT’s educational vision, distinctive curriculum, and international development strategy to scholars from around the world, further enhancing the program’s international visibility.

Chang highlighted GCIT’s interdisciplinary approach, which integrates expertise and resources from communication, information technology, law, and the humanities and social sciences. He also presented the program’s educational model, which emphasizes English-medium instruction (EMI), the application of digital media and innovative technologies, industry–academia collaboration, and project-based learning.

During his visit, Chang met with Professor Paula Saukko of Loughborough University, Director of Research and Innovation for Criminology, Sociology and Social Policy in the School of Social Sciences and Humanities; Distinguished Professor Katie Ellis of Curtin University, Director of the Centre for Culture and Technology in the School of Media, Creative Arts and Social Inquiry; and Professor Panayiota Tsatsou of the Sir Lenny Henry Centre for Media Diversity at Birmingham City University.

Chang introduced GCIT’s curriculum and educational achievements and engaged in in-depth discussions with the scholars on digital inclusion, disability and media studies, artificial intelligence, and communication education. These meetings aimed to establish foundations for future collaboration, including inviting international scholars to teach courses or deliver guest lectures at NCCU, jointly developing short-term courses and workshops, and expanding opportunities for overseas internships, short-term study programs, and international research collaboration.

In addition to meeting with scholars and exploring potential partnerships, Chang presented his research on the audio-description needs and media accessibility experiences of people with visual impairments in Taiwan. His presentation showcased GCIT’s academic strengths in innovative technology, communication research, and social engagement to the international academic community.

The visit brought together program promotion, international exchange, and academic presentation. It marked an important milestone in GCIT’s ongoing efforts to strengthen overseas internship opportunities, develop international short-term courses, and advance cross-border teaching and research collaboration.
