On May 25, National Tsing Hua University hosted the "Cross-Institutional EMI Faculty Training Showcase." The event invited faculty members who had completed the Trinity CertPT and Fulbright EMI training programs to share their training journeys and practical teaching experiences. As a partner that co-organized the Trinity CertPT teacher training courses last semester, EMI Resource Center at National Chengchi University also sent representatives to attend the event, continuing its active engagement in cross-institutional exchanges for EMI faculty professional development.
The showcase focused on the outcomes of EMI faculty training and the sharing of practical experiences. Several teachers who had completed the relevant training programs were invited to share their observations and reflections on EMI curriculum design, classroom interaction, classroom language use, and their professional growth journeys. Through this firsthand exchange of experiences, attendees gained a deeper understanding that EMI instruction is not out of reach, but can instead be progressively deepened through systematic training, peer support, and continuous practice.
Last semester, NCCU EMI Resource Center collaborated with National Tsing Hua University to promote the Trinity CertPT teacher training course, supporting university faculty in refining their professional EMI teaching capabilities. As a result of this training, three NCCU faculty members successfully passed the second-stage CertPT certification and received credentials awarded by Trinity College London. They are Assistant Professor Saengchan, Pranee from the Department of Southeast Asian Languages and Cultures, Associate Professor Hsiu-Chuan Hsu from the Graduate Institute of Applied Physics, and Associate Professor Pei-Hsuan Hsieh from the Department of Computer Science. The successful completion of the training and certification by these three instructors represents a tangible milestone in NCCU faculty's ongoing commitment to professional development in EMI teaching.
Furthermore, Professor Siaw-Fong Chung of the Department of English, former director of the NCCU EMI Resource Center, has attained the qualification of CertPT Master Trainer, making her the first faculty member at NCCU to earn credentials as an EMI teacher trainer. This achievement not only enhances the university's internal capacity for EMI teacher training but also establishes a solid foundation for advancing future faculty professional development and instructional support.
The NCCU EMI Resource Center will continue to foster cross-institutional collaborations and integrate teacher training resources. By doing so, the center aims to assist university faculty in developing practical EMI teaching skills and to facilitate their professional growth within an internationalized academic environment.
