On May 20, 2026, National Chengchi University (NCCU) celebrated its 99th Anniversary Sports Day. Faculty, staff, and students from the Master’s Program in Global Communication and Innovation Technology (GCIT) enthusiastically took part in multiple competitions, demonstrating strong team spirit, determination, and camaraderie. GCIT students won first place in a student group fun competition, while the faculty and staff team achieved its best-ever performance, securing two second-place finishes and one third-place finish.

This year, the GCIT faculty and staff team competed under the creative team name “Chuan Zhuang Shuo,” a playful variation of the program’s Chinese abbreviation “Chuan Chuang Shuo,” symbolizing the team’s readiness to take on every challenge in its strongest form. The team’s overall performance marked a significant improvement from previous years and fully reflected GCIT’s strong sense of unity and collective spirit.

GCIT students also showcased youthful energy and excellent teamwork throughout the Sports Day. In the “Dragon Boat Race” fun competition, GCIT students competed under the team name “Six-Seven Here We Go.” With synchronized steps and steady rhythm, the team delivered an outstanding performance and ultimately won first place. In addition, international student Mateo represented GCIT in the men’s 100-meter race and finished 10th overall in the final, adding an international highlight to the program’s participation.

The faculty and staff team, “Chuan Zhuang Shuo,” demonstrated strong and consistent performance across multiple events, achieving its most impressive results to date. In the 400-meter relay, the team secured second place through smooth baton exchanges and strong teamwork. In the “Sack Race” fun competition, the team once again displayed excellent coordination and earned another second-place finish. In the tug-of-war competition, led by Assistant Professors Christine Cook and Tim Chang, the team worked together with determination and finished third.

GCIT Director Professor Tammy Lin stated, “Sports Day is not only a stage for athletic competition, but also an important occasion for bringing people together. Seeing faculty, staff, and students cheer for one another and give their best regardless of the outcome was truly moving. This spirit of mutual support is one of GCIT’s most valuable cultural foundations.” Professor Lin further noted that this strong sense of unity reflects GCIT’s core strengths in cross-cultural and interdisciplinary collaboration. Moving forward, GCIT will continue to build on this foundation, deepen the connection between teaching and practice, and expand its academic and industry impact on an international scale.
