A total of 240 new international students from 32 countries have arrived at National Chengchi University (NCCU) for exchange and study in the second semester of the 2025–2026 academic year. To help students quickly adapt to their new environment, the Office of International Cooperation (OIC) held an orientation session on February 12 at the newly completed Cheng-En Lecture Hall of the College of Law. The session was attended by university-level exchange students as well as some early-arriving master’s and doctoral students. NCCU Associate Vice President for International Cooperation, Professor Su Cho-Hsin, opened the event with remarks in both English and French, encouraging students to embrace challenges, discover their potential, and step beyond their comfort zones.

In addition, the OIC compiled frequently asked questions from international students and invited both on- and off-campus experts to deliver talks on topics such as campus resources, mental health, gender equality, and fire safety.

In her remarks, Professor Su shared her own experience studying in France, encouraging international students to draw strength and growth from unfamiliar environments and diverse cultures. “You are at an age where you can reshape and redefine yourselves,” she noted. She also welcomed students to join NCCU in celebrating its upcoming centennial and encouraged them to build friendships and networks while enjoying a fulfilling exchange experience.

As part of the student support sessions, counselor Lai Pin-Chieh from the Student Counseling Center introduced on-campus psychological counseling and medical resources. Professor Wei Mei-Chuan delivered a lecture on gender equality, while Officer Yeh Yi-Hang from the Wenshan First Precinct used a lively and humorous approach to remind students about traffic safety and fraud prevention. Firefighter Chung Yi from the Taipei City Fire Department explained fire emergency response procedures, as well as the use of CPR and AED, and invited students to participate in hands-on practice.

Vertti Alamännistö, an exchange student from Finland, remarked that the orientation was highly practical, particularly the CPR session, which he found very beneficial. Natalia Chwaja from Poland shared that, as one of the few graduate students who arrived early, she was glad to have the opportunity to attend the session, which made her feel reassured.

The event was held in the College of Law building, which was officially inaugurated in June of last year. After the session, students enjoyed refreshments in the spacious and comfortable common areas, interacting with one another as they embarked on their academic journey and exploration at NCCU.
