On January 15, 2026, Mayor Kate Gallego of the City of Phoenix, Arizona, led a high-level delegation on an official visit to National Chengchi University (NCCU), including a visit to the Master’s Program in Global Communication and Innovation Technology (GCIT).
GCIT has recently released a Lunar New Year greeting video recorded by Mayor Gallego during her visit, in which she extends her warm New Year wishes to the faculty and students of GCIT and NCCU, while expressing strong recognition of the program’s academic achievements. In the video, Mayor Gallego shared her deep impression of GCIT and NCCU, particularly praising the university’s expertise in high-tech fields as well as the energy, creativity, and enthusiasm demonstrated by its students. She remarked that these qualities gave her a genuine sense of optimism and confidence in the future.
The video was filmed at GCIT’s New Media Studio, showcasing the program’s professional learning environment and its integration of innovative technologies with digital communication.
Mayor Gallego also extended an invitation to GCIT and NCCU students to consider Phoenix as a destination for future overseas study, academic exchange, and internship opportunities. Her message highlights the City of Phoenix’s strong commitment to advancing Taiwan–U.S. youth exchange and higher education collaboration, while offering GCIT students concrete pathways to expand their international learning experiences.
Professor Trisha Lin, Distinguished Professor and Director of GCIT, noted that the release of the video not only builds upon the foundation of Taiwan–U.S. city-level and academic cooperation established during the mayor’s visit, but also leverages digital media to share international recognition and opportunities with a broader student audience and global community. She emphasized that the initiative reflects GCIT’s growing role and impact as an international platform for academic and industry engagement.
The video has been released simultaneously on GCIT’s official website and digital platforms as a key record of this international exchange, further strengthening the program’s presence and visibility within global higher education and cross-city collaboration networks.
