TVBS English news team leader Dimitri Bruyas is an industry mentor for the Master's Program in Global Communication and Innovation Technology (GCIT). He gave a talk about "New Challenges in Taiwan's News Media Industry" on March 11 and elaborated on the news media industry. When faced with the challenges of cross-platform ecology and emerging media technologies, he shared the professional knowledge regarding how to produce professional news and share the secrets of doing good international news in Taiwan.

In 2022, Dimitri Bruyas was appointed as the English team leader responsible for the international news department of TVBS News. He is currently supervising the station's efforts to produce comprehensive international news. Bruyas highlighted two main approaches that TVBS is taking to achieve this goal.

The first approach is "from outside," which involves producing and broadcasting international news with the slogan "Talk about the world, see the world." This approach aims to connect Taiwan with the rest of the world.

The second approach is "from inside," which involves producing English-based news about Taiwan from multiple perspectives, including Taiwanese and international viewpoints. This approach aims to help the world understand Taiwan better.

Dimitri Bruyas believes that news media can use new technologies to develop innovative business strategies that can increase page views, brand power, and influence. However, he emphasizes that digital news must remain reporter-centered. While computers can assist human brains, reporters must still play a crucial role in verifying the authenticity of information, fact-checking, judging the news value, and presenting news from international perspectives. In his talk, Dimitri Bruyas stressed the need for new-generation media talents in brand management. He encouraged GCIT students to maintain their independent initiative, especially in planning their learning and growth. They should cultivate problem awareness and have the ability to research and explore problems. He also emphasized the importance of enthusiasm and courage to join a media career full of practice and adventure.

During the Q&A session, he answered questions attentively and explained everything from a micro perspective to overall strategies. This helped students understand the innovative evolution of international news with technological changes.
