TaiwanPlus is Taiwan's first international audio-visual streaming platform that broadcasts entirely in English. Their mission is to "tell Taiwan's stories and bring Taiwan to the world". This platform is in line with the Master's Degree Program in Global Communication and Innovation Technology (GCIT), which is an important industry-university partner. On March 5th, Professor Trisha Lin, director of GCIT, led students to visit the TaiwanPlus headquarters to learn more about the dynamic emerging English-language television media and further exchange and dialogue with industry partners.

The open space design of the TaiwanPlus headquarters symbolizes the open and transparent spirit of the channel's content production and broadcasting. The conference rooms are named after counties and cities in Taiwan, and this visit was in the "Kinmen Conference Room." Team Leader Xu of the Public Affairs Center introduced students to the core value of TaiwanPlus, which is to share Taiwan's culture and stories with the world. The main goal is to enhance Taiwan's international discourse and become a window for the world to understand Taiwan. During the 2024 presidential election, TaiwanPlus News has become an important source for international media to understand Taiwan's election situation. TaiwanPlus is committed to integrating Taiwan's local characteristics with global standards in international news, diverse programs, advertising, and marketing. The channel is also available in five-star hotels at home and abroad to expand its viewing influence.

Later that day, Eric, who is the Deputy Director of the Program Department, gave a presentation on the evolution of communication from linear to non-linear. Previously, Eric was the Program Director of FOX Media Group and has worked in other internationally renowned media such as National Geographic Channel, AXN, Animax, and ESPN for more than 20 years. He has extensive experience in TV movies, animation, advertising, and programs, including sports events. Eric has a deep understanding of the changes in the international and Taiwanese media industry. During his talk, GCIT students had the opportunity to actively ask questions and learn that more than 90% of TaiwanPlus programs are self-produced and have different operating methods across platforms.

As a senior international media person, Eric suggested that GCIT students build personal brands, develop multiple expertise, and cultivate resource integration and problem-solving abilities. He also reminded students to be prepared to face the challenges of international communication, adapt to trends, and make immediate adjustments. It aligns with GCIT's goal of cultivating international communication talents.
