The Chinese Language Center organized a Spring Festival event, titled "Surprise! See What's in the Gift Box," on Monday, February 19th. This event aimed to immerse international students in the traditions of Taiwan's New Year celebrations and share in the joyous spirit of the season. The CLC extended invitations to students enrolled in the regular Mandarin program during the winter term, providing them an opportunity to experience the festive atmosphere of Taiwan's Lunar New Year.

Alan Yang, the director of the Chinese Language Center, expressed that many students studying during the winter term are unable to return home for their Mandarin studies. Consequently, the center took the initiative to create a warm and festive atmosphere for them. Personalized blessings were inscribed on red envelopes, each containing a different surprise such as a symbolic one New Taiwan Dollar coin, representing the fresh start of the new year.

February 19th also marked the first day back to class after the winter break. Students from various countries gathered at the 104 multi-function classroom in the International Building, eagerly participating in the event and hoping for a stroke of luck. Laughter and excitement filled the classroom as students shared their joy upon opening their red envelopes, revealing surprises such as calligraphy sets, Taiwanese pastries, and chocolate coins. Beyond the thrill of discovery, there was a sense of happiness in receiving unexpected gifts. Many students took photos with their gifts, capturing precious memories of the event.

Through this activity, the Chinese Language Center aimed not only to provide a warm and festive atmosphere for students unable to return home during the winter break but also to welcome the new year with a heart full of joy and gratitude, marking a perfect conclusion to the winter term, which will be ended in late February. We look forward to continuing to foster a sense of community and celebration in the upcoming terms.
