NCCU Physical Education Office held the "Pre-Re-opening Game of the NCCU Gymnasium" on January 21, inviting Nanshan High School basketball team to challenge with NCCU Griffins and to test the international Bodet Sports scoreboard that is uniquely set among all universities in Taiwan.

NCCU’s gymnasium had finished remodeling and was partially re-opened at the end of 2017. Both the high-ceiling venue and reserved space have been of high international standard. WANG Ching-Chung (王清欉), Director of the Physical Education Office, pointed out that the new scoreboard can display the players' Chinese names and numbers, as well as the foul times of both teams and each individual. Besides, a new 24-Second Shot Clock, recognized by the Electrical Testing Laboratories (ETL), was also set up to ensure players’ right. The scoreboard was a total success and is expected to help NCCU host important local and international games in the future.

Always very excited when cheering up for the NCCU Griffins, President Edward CHOW gave special thanks to Nanshan High School’s players for this friendly game. Other than the President, many distinguished guests were also attended the game. They are Mr. JIANG Daniel Fong-Nian (姜豐年), alumnus; Prof. LIN Calvin Tso-Yu (林左裕), Dean of the Office of General Affairs; Prof. WANG Wen-Chieh (王文杰), Chair of the Department of Law; Ms. HUANG Pei-Lei (黃蓓蕾), Director of the Personnel Office; Prof. LIEN Hong-Yi (連弘宜), Chair of the Department of Diplomacy; Prof. ONG Nga-ping (王雅萍), Chair of the Department of Ethnology; Professor LIU Hsiao-Lan (劉小蘭) and Prof. CHIO Shih-Hong (邱式鴻) of the Department of Land Economics; and Mr. HOU Cheng (侯政), alumnus to the basketball team.
