The Student Association of the International College of Innovation (ICI) at National Chengchi University (NCCU) hosted a Freshman Family Event at the International Building on September 23, bringing together first-year students for an afternoon of interaction and exchange. This year, ICI welcomed students from 16 countries, reflecting the College’s diverse and international student community. Through a shared lunch and interactive group activities, the event provided students from different cultural backgrounds with opportunities to get to know one another, build connections, and gradually become part of the ICI community.

The event began with a traditional Taiwanese-style lunch prepared by the ICI Student Association, giving students an opportunity to chat and connect over a meal. For those who had only recently begun their university journey, sharing lunch offered a natural setting to start conversations, learn more about one another, and connect with classmates from different countries and cultural backgrounds.

Following lunch, the Student Association organized a lively drawing-and-guessing game, with students divided into teams for a friendly competition. In each round, one team member served as the guesser while the others took turns viewing a given prompt and had just seven seconds to communicate it through a drawing. The final team member then attempted to guess the correct answer. Prompts ranged from words and phrases to movie titles, giving every student a chance to take on both drawing and guessing roles.

With only a few seconds to draw, students had to quickly identify the key features of each prompt and turn their ideas into simple, recognizable images. Unexpected drawings and guesses brought plenty of laughter, while the teamwork and interaction helped students who were still getting to know one another feel more connected. At the end of the game, the team with the lowest score took on a lighthearted challenge chosen by their teammates, adding another fun moment to the event.

Through shared meals and interactive activities, the Freshman Family Event created opportunities for students from different countries and cultural backgrounds to connect, communicate, and collaborate, while also highlighting the energy and initiative of ICI students in organizing activities for their peers. ICI hopes that these student-led activities will continue to help new students build supportive peer networks, gain meaningful cross-cultural experiences, and become more familiar with both ICI and campus life, fostering a stronger sense of connection and belonging within the College.
