To promote international education and enhance students’ cross-cultural understanding, National Chengchi University Experimental Elementary School collaborated with the Office of International Cooperation at NCCU, bringing together 15 student ambassadors (Grades 4–6) and 10 international students from Peru, Myanmar, Thailand, France, Guatemala, and Saint Lucia to Zhongjiao Elementary School in Jinshan District, New Taipei City.

This event aims to move beyond traditional language learning by creating authentic learning environments, such as cultural sharing, interactive activities, and local engagement. International students introduced their own culture, while NCCU Experimental Elementary students served as interpreters, reinforcing communication.

Students from Zhongjiao Elementary School also showcased local Jinshan culture, encouraging mutual exchange. A highlight of the event was“land surfing”, where local students become instructors, guide participants through this unique school-based curriculum.

The principal stated, “Through authentic cross-cultural interaction, students learn respect through understanding differences and build confidence through communication—one of the key elements of global citizenship.”

This event demonstrates the effective integration of external resources and partnership-building to achieve competency-based education goals, while also providing international volunteers with valuable teaching and cultural experiences. Future efforts will be consecutively made to expand global learning opportunities for students.
