On 25 May 2024, the Class of 2024 from the Master’s Program in Global Communication and Innovation Technology (GCIT) at National Chengchi University (NCCU) participated in the NCCU Commencement Ceremony held at the university gymnasium. This second batch of graduates from GCIT comprised students from diverse countries and regions, including Taiwan, Germany, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Malaysia, Paraguay, Singapore, Ukraine, and Vietnam.
Led by Professor Tu Wen-ling, Dean of NCCU's International College of Innovation, the GCIT Class of 2024 participated in the opening march-past. This was followed by a speech from NCCU President Li Tsai-yen. In his address, President Li used the NCCU acronym to encourage the Class of 2024 to be Nice, Creative, Confident, and Unique. He urged students to continually push their boundaries but also recognized the importance of taking breaks and being kind to themselves when feeling exhausted. Amidst the rise of AI, President Li noted that human guidance and collaboration are essential, which are core strengths of NCCU’s graduates.
The graduation ceremony was a momentous occasion for GCIT’s Class of 2024, with many of their family members and friends flying to Taiwan specially to attend the ceremony. GCIT Director Trisha Lin shared: “I felt immense pride witnessing the second commencement at GCIT. Among the graduates, we have the 2024 NCCU Outstanding Student Awardee, as well as recipients of the International Student Academic Excellence Award and the Outstanding Overseas Chinese Student Award for Graduate Students, among many other accolades. These students have set high standards. I wish our graduates to soar high, continue to shine brightly, and make us proud.”
On 24 May 2024, GCIT also hosted a special tea party in honour of the graduating students at the GCIT office. The tea party provided an opportunity for the graduates to mingle and capture memorable moments with their peers.
One of the graduates from Hong Kong shared, “Being part of GCIT’s second batch of graduates, it is great to witness the growth and development of GCIT. I am grateful for the experience here at NCCU, and particularly enjoyed the flexibility and opportunities that GCIT has offered. I sincerely encourage my peers to stay modest, keep an open mind, and learn from each other, which will prepare them well for upcoming opportunities and challenges.” Another graduate from Ukraine added, “I came to GCIT with a different background and only a few ideas about my future. Now I am leaving with a wealth of knowledge and the inspiration to make the world a better place. I wish everyone to come to GCIT with their spark, and leave with an almighty Olympic fire.”
