This presentation discusses our research in infodemics and the rise of misinformation the context of health and COVID-19 communication which leveraged multimodal technologies and social media data. This talk will share findings from interdisciplinary research projects which investigated several translational fronts surrounding misinformation threats, with implications for policy and practice.
Speaker: May O. Lwin
Professor May Lwin is the Associate Provost (Faculty Affairs) at Nanyang Technological University Singapore and President’s Chair Professor of Communication Studies at Wee Kim Wee School of Communication and Information (WKWSCI),. She also serves as Joint Professor in the LKC School of Medicine, a Senior Scientist (honorary) with A*Star and a Professorial Fellow with the University of Melbourne, Australia.
Prof Lwin specialises in strategic health communication. Her research projects involve the utilisation, design, and assessment of digitally mediated communication and social media to influence health behaviours. Her expert insights in communication have been deployed in various health and disease contexts including Covid-19, dengue, AMR and cardiovascular health.
