摘要:

In the last couple of years, the development of quantum computers has been transferring from the small scale experimental demonstration in the research laboratories to the more robust and scalable industrial production. Huge progress has been made in different hardware platforms including various implementations in the solid state (superconductor, NV center, quantum dot, etc.) and the AMO (trapped ions, Rydberg atoms, photons, etc.) systems. Among them, trapped ion technology is one of the promising candidates towards the ultimate goal of fault-tolerant quantum computation. Trapped-ion quantum computers not only offer the high fidelity of universal elementary operations including SPAM and quantum gates but also provide the full connectivity which can sufficiently reduce the compiled circuit depth and eventually the error correction overhead. In this talk, I will give an introduction to the ion trapping technology specifically for the quantum computation applications and discuss the recent hardware progress in IonQ towards the large-scale trapped ion quantum computer.
