The College of International Affairs has hosted an info session for the newly launched International Programme in European Studies this Wednesday, 2nd of December. Such a programme wishes to provide those students interested in European affairs the opportunity to establish an international interdisciplinary platform.

Professor Teng and professor Su, the leading professors of The International Programme in European Studies, gave their respective introductions and remarks regarding the programme at the session. In sum, this would be the first time ever for National Chengchi University (NCCU), and even for universities in Taiwan, to offer a programme focused on European affairs. In its beginnings, the programme emphasizes on cross-campus course selection and cooperation with the EU Centre of Excellence from National Taiwan University (NTU), by providing guaranteed eligibility to courses to NCCU students. The model will also be applied to other universities in the future. In addition, it grants an international faculty, for instance, the addition of professor Gustavo Martín Prada, the advisor of international cooperation and development from the EU to the United Nations, who would be giving a lecture in the academic year to follow. A summer school exchange programme to Belgium at the Université Libre de Bruxelles will be offered as well, which translates into international mobility and interdisciplinary skills in the future.

Frantically speaking, there is still room for boundless growth and development for the International Programme in European Studies. Reason being, the Head of Office from the European Economic and Trade Office, Filip Grzegorzewski, had recently visited the college of international affairs and especially expressed great interest to the programme. He enthusiastically stated the importance of the eventual academic cooperation and connection of the programme with the trade office, and even saw himself with the possibility of lecturing under the programme in the future.

Starting from the second semester of the 2020 academic year, the International Programme in European Studies will start in motion with professor Lu and professor Su’s classes, but classes in regards to law and international trade will be arranged for the following semesters. The info session ended successfully with the participation of many students at 13:00.
