【New Course from IDAS】The Taiwan Issue in US- China Relations / Prof. Harry Harding

Dear all,
IDAS/IMAS/IMES will open a one-credit course starting from October 27th. Below please find the course introduction.
If you are interested in this course, please come in person directly to the IDAS office to sign up before 12 noon, October 23rd, Friday. The office will manually add you into the enrollment.

Course title: The Taiwan Issue in US - China Relations
Classroom: To be announced
Class Schedule: Every Tuesday, 13:00 – 16:00, starting from October 27th for six weeks with its final class ending on December 1st.
Credits: 1 credit
Course Introduction:
This course is an overview of Taiwan’s role in the US- China relationship.
It focuses on change and continuity in American policy toward Taiwan from 1949 to the present, the evolution of Chinese policy toward Taiwan in the face of the emergence of a separate national identity and a democratic political system on Taiwan, and the choices facing Taiwan as the U.S.-China relationship moves from partnership to rivalry.
Instructor of the course:
This class is taught by Prof. Harry Harding, who is a professor of Public Policy at the University of Virginia’s Frank Batten School of Leadership and Public Policy and also a specialist on Asia and U.S.-Asian relations.
