As the new semester begins, International Master’s Program in International Studies (IMPIS) launched a cultural exchange event with Embassy of St. Vincent and the Grenadines on September 17 of 2020. Distinguished Professor, Chung-Chian Teng who is also the Program Director of IMPIS was favored by Counsellor Ms. Shebby-Ann Dennie with a colorful and beautiful traditional outfit representative of the support and friendship of St. Vincent and the Grenadines to Taiwan not only politically but also in various aspects such as education, health, communication, and agriculture.

St. Vincent and the Grenadines is located at the east part of the Caribbean region, it has established the diplomatic connection with Taiwan since 1981 and it set up the embassy in Taiwan in 2019, the first embassy of St. Vincent and the Grenadines in Asia. The archipelago country consists of 32 islands with the main island of Saint Vincent. From the beginning of the diplomatic allies between the two countries, St. Vincent and the Grenadines has cooperated with Taiwan profoundly in many ways like economy and agriculture. What’s more, it also spoke up for Taiwan in many international occasions. The most outstanding example was that the representative of St. Vincent and the Grenadines had done so for Taiwan these years at the WHA for our attendance. Last year St. Vincent and the Grenadines had also taken the position of one of the non-permanent members of UN Security Council, which was also regarded as a huge help for Taiwan’s international engagement.

IMPIS belongs to College of International Affairs of National ChengChi University. In addition to the local students, IMPIS also welcomes foreign students from all over the world. They include not only our respectful diplomatic allies such as St. Vincent and the Grenadines, Guatemala, Honduras, Belize, St. Lucia, Nicaragua, etc., but also the United States, Europe, Japan, Oceania, and ASEAN countries. The program’s courses combine many disciplines like economics, commerce, politics and diplomacy. The courses focus on the international organizations and the international conflict management. The alumni of IMPIS has performed pretty well in various aspects world-widely.

In the near future, IMPIS would still aspire on the whole world, enhancing the advantage of international environment of NCCU, and promote the university’s diversity for educating the future elites around the world who would not only grasp the trend of the world but also support Taiwan wholeheartedly. Through the nice experience with Embassy of St. Vincent and the Grenadines this time, we would continue the connection with other embassies and cooperation with other countries for opening up more opportunities for NCCU, for Taiwan, and for the whole world!
