The Master’s Program in Global Communication and Innovation Technology (GCIT) at National Chengchi University hosted “Choose, Share, Grow: Lessons from a Meaningful Career Journey” on October 5. Uber Ads Country Manager for GRCN Andy and Uber Ads Partner Managers Kendra and Gisele shared business insights and career experiences, helping students connect their humanities and communication backgrounds with opportunities in technology.
Andy opened with an interactive quiz to show how consumer behavior and data inform digital advertising. He then introduced Uber’s expansion beyond ride-hailing and food delivery into autonomous driving, delivery, advertising, and enterprise services.
NCCU alumnae Gisele and Kendra illustrated two career paths: moving across sectors and deepening expertise. Reflecting on her experience across agencies, brands, and media platforms, Gisele said, “When making career choices, it is worth considering which skills each opportunity can help you develop.” She encouraged students to set clear goals. Kendra shared how digital advertising and client services strengthened her communication and problem-solving skills. “You do not need to have all the answers about your long-term career right away,” she said. “Get to know yourself through experience and gradually clarify your direction.”
In the panel moderated by GCIT student Judy, Kendra highlighted how graduate research developed skills for checking and evaluating business data. Gisele emphasized understanding partners’ perspectives and adapting communication to local clients and multinational teams. Discussing recruitment, Andy said, “I value candidates’ curiosity about everyday things and the different perspectives they can bring to the team.”
“Through the Uber Advertising team’s practical insights, students can better understand how humanities and communication expertise applies to the technology industry and consider their own career directions,” said GCIT Director Tammy. GCIT will continue to connect industry exchanges, coursework, and hands-on learning to develop cultural and technology talent with international perspectives and practical skills.
