Master’s Program in Global Communication and Innovation Technology (GCIT) at National Chengchi University (NCCU) held its “2026 Spring Orientation and Course Briefing” on February 23, welcoming five early-admission students from Vietnam, Thailand, and Taiwan. Current students were also invited to participate, fostering interaction between new and continuing cohorts.

GCIT Director Trisha Lin attended the event alongside former GCIT Director Mei-Ling Hsu, Assistant Professor Christine Cook, and Assistant Professor Tim Chang. The faculty introduced the program’s curriculum features, training objectives, and domestic and international internship resources. A highlight of the event was a live video conference with the University of Erfurt in Germany. Professor Sven Jöckel and student assistant Friederike Kurth (Rikky) presented the 2026 Summer Program in Communication and Media Studies (SPICE). The eight-week program, scheduled from June 19 to August 9, focuses on communication and media studies. Completion of the program fulfills GCIT’s overseas study credit and subsidy requirements, offering students a practical pathway to broaden their international perspectives.

Assistant Professor Christine Cook encouraged new students to explore courses in communication, digital storytelling, and research methods during their initial semester before planning internships or thesis directions. Assistant Professor Tim Chang introduced courses in digital production, new media practicum, and domestic internships, emphasizing a balanced integration of theory and practice. Former GCIT Director Mei-Ling Hsu also extended her congratulations and encouraged students to make full use of the program’s resources to build a strong professional foundation.

Toward the end of the event, the GCIT Student Representative Committee (SRC) introduced various engagement opportunities. Several senior students shared advice on course planning, campus life, and transportation, answering questions and facilitating meaningful connections in a relaxed, welcoming atmosphere.

With its systematic curriculum design, international exchange initiatives, and practice-oriented training, GCIT is committed to cultivating communication professionals equipped with global perspectives and innovative capabilities. This orientation marked a solid first step in the new students’ master’s journey.
