On May 20, 2024, National Chengchi University (NCCU) celebrated its 97th anniversary sports day. Faculty and students from the Master’s Program in Global Communication and Innovation Technology (GCIT) participated in the event. Under the leadership of Director Trisha Lin, students from around the world enjoyed the annual campus event. The Sports Day created lasting memories for the students and facilitated cultural exchange through the anniversary activities.

In his opening speech, NCCU President Tsai-Yen Li emphasized the importance of work-life balance, encouraging students to use the school's resources to develop good exercise habits. "Enjoying life outside of work is very important," President Li said. Although NCCU does not have sports-related departments, students still performed excellently in sports competitions, making everyone proud. "I hope all students and staff will use the school's facilities to cultivate an interest in sports."

The opening ceremony featured a special performance by the famous Jingmei Girls' High School marching band, adding youthful energy to the event. "The performance was very impressive. We rarely see such shows in Thailand," said a GCIT student from Thailand. "The performance was eye-catching, but compared to Taiwan, Thai school celebrations have longer opening ceremonies that last about half a day and include more activities."

At the anniversary celebration held in the afternoon in Yushan International Hall of the NCCU College of Commerce, GCIT Director Trisha Lin and GCIT student Billy Cheuk were awarded the Academic Research Award and the Outstanding Student Award. This recognition highlights the exceptional academic and personal achievements of GCIT faculty and students. "This year, GCIT student Billy Cheuk received the Outstanding Student Award, proving that the direction of the GCIT program is correct." In the interview, GCIT Director Trisha Lin said, "I hope students will actively use the program's rich resources, take advantage of industry-academia cooperation, internships at home and abroad, and opportunities to interact with international scholars and professionals. These experiences will help them improve themselves and bring honor to the program."

Since its establishment, the GCIT program has nurtured many outstanding international students who bring diverse cultural backgrounds and perspectives and shine brightly on the NCCU stage. The enthusiastic participation and support from GCIT students added more color to the celebration. This event showcased NCCU's diverse international community and promoted cultural interaction within and outside the campus, offering heartfelt birthday wishes for NCCU's 97th anniversary.
