We sincerely invite the NCCU community to come support the 6th Taiwan Schools Debate Challenge (TSDC), co-organizied by SpeechCraft (說匠) and the Department of English of National Chengchi University. Over 120 students, forming up to 40 secondary school debate teams will converge on our campus on November 25 and 26 for two days of intense debating, in the largest TSDC ever. The teams will include some of the best debaters in Taiwan, who are honing their skills to compete internationally for the Taiwan National Team at this summer’s World Schools Debate Championship (WSDC), as well as less experienced junior and novice debaters. The competitors will be debating on a different current and controversial topic in each of the four preliminary rounds before the top teams will compete to get crowned as champions in the Open (10th grade and above) or Junior (9th grade and below) categories. Each round will last for approximately 50 minutes and will be followed by expert adjudication by the team of local and international judges invited to the competition. This is can’t-miss event for people interested in learning more about English Debating in Taiwan, college debaters who want to improve by observing some of the top teams in Taiwan, or anyone interested in seeing controversial topics discussed and defended in English.
Time: 9 a.m. roll call on Saturday November 25, and Sunday November 26.
Venue: General Building, room 114 at NCCU
