Our department was established in August, 1990. Its predecessor was the Turkish Language Group of Eastern Language Department. To be in tune with current international situations, the Department plans to strengthen our language teachings through teaching, research and expansion of our facilities, and promote Area Studies and the Study of Turcology to cultivate expertise in various fields like language, diplomacy, economy, trade and commerce, and to provide the results of academic research, with a view to enhancing the ROC¡¦s relationships with Turkish-speaking countries in Central and Western Asia.
