On June 7, 2022, a panel discussion was organized in partnership with The Wall Street Journal—The Challenge of Misinformation. We are honored to be able to invite Dr. Tingyu Kang and Dr. Tsung-Jen Shih from NCCU, as well as Liza Lin and Yumiko Ono from The Wall Street Journal and Anne Kruger from First Draft, to participate in this event and share their valuable perspectives and experience dealing with misinformation and disinformation.

The panelists shared their knowledge of fact-checking systems as well as how governments in different countries deal with misinformation and disinformation. Misinformation and disinformation's consequences were also discussed. Furthermore, the panelists shared their perspectives on what lies ahead in relation to the subjects of misinformation and deception as well.

However, “The Challenge of Misinformation” is what the global communities are currently confronting. It will get increasingly difficult for us to recognize fake communications or materials as technology advances. As a result, we should pay more attention in order to prevent from becoming victims of misinformation or disinformation by improving the media literacy.

Thanks for the professors and students from college of communication for participating in this online panel discussion. IMICS is delighted to have the opportunity to organize this event with prominent journalists and experts and we look forward to continuing to work with professionals from different backgrounds to hold various events in the future.
