We’re here to “Get the World Back to Work!”
With laughter and smiles following each person home, the final OnCampus competition held by four schools came to an end.

On 3/12, an annual Hult Prize OnCampus competition was jointly held by National Chengchi University, National Taiwan University, National Taipei University, and National Taipei University of Technology.

Hult Prize is the largest global student completion centered around the creation of innovative startups designed to solve the most pressing issues felt throughout the world. Competitors are tasked at finding the solution to the spotlight issue selected by Hult Prize, catering towards the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) set by the UN. Hult Prize believes in the creativity, passion, and impact students are capable of – showing their earnestness in their belief by awarding the global winner with 1 million USD to get the winner’s plan into action

On 3/12, 21 teams and over 100 people attended the OnCampus competition that was held jointly between the NTU, NCCU, NTUT, and NTPU universities in Taipei. These universities joined over 1000+ other universities globally in determining their winners,
This being the first of four competitions in the series, the student teams competed against other teams hailing from the same universities, entrusting experienced and knowledgeable judges to determine the OnCampus winner for each university. Together, student teams drew up unique startup plans to resolve the issue that remains constant for the entirety of the competition.

But what is end goal for all of these teams? What must they be able to prove in order to advance in the competition, or potentially win?
The Call to Action this year is focused on the jobs lost and the lives affected by the pandemic stating that competitors must:
“Build a business that will employ 2,000 people by 2024 while creating a positive impact on the world.”

Through their own merits, the winning teams secured their spots to compete in 1 of the 16 cities chosen to host the Regional Summits for this year’s Hult Prize competition. Through its 7 hour duration, the joint-hosted competition highlighted the various plans to mitigate the results of a global aftershock, ending with closing remarks from NCCU’s Campus Director, a Social Sciences master’s student, Grace Lao, beamed, “I’m so proud and elated all of us came together to innovate and form an impact that we couldn’t have imagined was possible. All of the teams are winners in my heart, and I hope you enjoyed Hult Prize OnCampus competition as much as I did.”

Coming up next in May is the second phase of the Hult Prize competition – the Regional Summits. And we look forward to the journey of the winning team of NCCU, We Care.
