Czech delegation led by the Mayor of Prague Dr. Zdenek Hrib and Parliamentarian Mr. Jakub Michalek visited NCCU on March 27 this year. As there is the Smart City Expo & Summit in Taipei these days, quite a large number of distinguished guest (representing administration, universities, and business) arrived to Taiwan to share their experience and find new solutions for their institutions and industry. During the meeting of delegates with President of NCCU, Prof. Kuo, and Dean of International College of Innovation, Dr. Liu, we discussed the issues of future cooperation and student exchange with respect to new trends in education and research. There would be a possibility to teach Chinese as foreign language at some of the high schools in Prague, which are administered by the Prague City Government.

Later, the delegates visited Department of Slavic Languages and Literature, namely the students of Czech study program, for a short panel debate mainly on the topic of “smart” cities (Taipei and Prague). The delegation appreciated a warm welcome at the Department, especially by the students dressed in traditional Moravian costumes, same as a fruitful debate and the level of language knowledge of our students. It was a great honor to welcome the import guests from Prague and we hope that there will be even more interesting debates like this within the Czech study program in the future.
