Mr. Jeremy Lin and Dr. Seetoo Dah-Hsian are to be guest speakers at NCCU Commencement Ceremony

NCCU’s Commencement Ceremony of the Academic year 2017-2018 will take place on Saturday, June 9, at the Gymnasium. NCCU invites NBA professional basketball player Jeremy Shu-How Lin (林書豪) and Professor Seetoo Dah-Hsian (司徒達賢) to deliver graduation speeches in the morning session and afternoon session respectively, to share personal experience, encourage graduates to boldly pursue their own dreams, and create their own ways in life. According to the Office of Student Affairs, invitation cards are required to attend the Commencement Ceremony. Each graduate can bring along 3 other guests with one invitation card.
This will be Jeremy Lin’s first graduation speech in Taiwan, and he thanked Alumni Jiang Fong-Nian (姜豐年), NCCU Griffins’ Honorary Team Leader, for inviting him to come. Chair Professor Seetoo Dah-Hsian of the College of Commerce will talk about “Lifelong learning and the practice of Listening, Speaking, Reading, and Thinking.” He is determined to send graduates a life-long blessing before his retirement.
Being the first Taiwanese American professional basketball player in the NBA, Jeremy Lin is a role model both in academics and sports. After graduated from Harvard University, played in the NBA league for 8 years, experienced peaks and valleys, generated a global craze known as “Linsanity,” and got picked in Time as the leading person on the list of TIME 100: Worlds 100 Most Influential People (2012), Lin humbly gives thanks to God for granting him this unordinary life and keeps involving in charitable activities. Though his schedule for this summer is already full, Lin has rearranged his plan and is ready to meet with NCCU graduates.
“A good university could have no actual buildings but must have great masters,” said Seetoo Dah-Hsian, Chair Professor of the College of Commerce. Being the first Chinese scholar to specialize in strategic and organizational management, Dr. Seetoo has taught at NCCU for 42 years in the fields of organizational theory and management, corporate strategy, management theory, and so on. In order to make a difference in Taiwan’s economics and society, Professor Seetoo had devoted his expertise, served as the Vice President of NCCU, and wrote books to provide guidance, not only to students, but also to various entrepreneurs and talented individuals. Dr. Seetoo was awarded many academic medals and prizes and was the first person to receive NCCU’s “Zhongni Outstanding Teaching Award (仲尼傑出教學獎).”
According to the Office of Student Affairs, invitation cards are required for attend the Commencement Ceremony. Every graduate wearing the graduation gown can bring along 3 other guests with one invitation card. Every entrance on the second floor of the Gymnasium will be opened to a maximum of 330 people; freely moving to other area is not allowed. Once the guest area on the second floor reach its capacity, guests will be redirected to the Ping-Pong Room to attend the ceremony online. Please come to the Gymnasium as early as possible.
