From September 11 2017, the NCCU Gymnasium will be partly open to the faculty, functioning as a multifunctional sport center with venues for basketball, volleyball, and badminton. Wang Ching-chung (王清欉), Dean of Physical Education Office, stated that most of the renovation is at the final stage of work. At the end of the semester, all the sport equipment will be ready. According to the schedule, the gymnasium is going to be fully open next semester.
To provide a modern and multifunctional sport center simultaneously applicable to teaching, training and international competition, NCCU has reconstructed the gymnasium since July 2016. The large- scale reconstruction encompassed the rooftop, walls, hydrant, air-conditioning, floor, lighting and sport equipment. The renovation has been completed step by step as scheduled. The gymnasium will be partially open at 8 o’clock on September 11 for the PE classes next semester; the available venues include venues for basketball, badminton, volleyball, table tennis, aerobics classroom, and so on.
The weightroom, which is currently being under construction, will be opened in December. The net, the second and third basketball backstops of the main court are also in the process of construction. Wang Ching-chung (王清欉) hoped that all devices will be completely equipped before the end of this semester, and be fully operated next semester.
The gymnasium opens up at 8 am to 11:30 pm during the week; 8:00 am to 9:30 pm on Saturdays, and 8 am to 5 pm on Sundays. Faculty and students are welcomed to exercise here. Since the gym is still under construction during the weekends, the venue will not be available for activity use from September to October. Also, the main court will be closed temporarily on September 17 for the sake of the basketball stand construction.
