Creating Cultural Hotspot, NCCU Industry-University Cooperation Sets Up a Paragon

NCCU students along with teachers have put many efforts to social engagement. The achievements of industry-university collaboration are fruitful. For example, FinTech Global Research and Industry Alliance Center and the first “AI Pepper Lab” in Taiwan were established; International Master of Business Administration (IMBA) will cooperate with Taipei 101 from the next year; one-year-old FinTech Research Center is now in partnership with great companies such as FinEX Asia for cross-industry collaboration. In the future, to reach the goal of "Cultural Hotspot," NCCU will integrate all kinds of practical projects and institution to systematically expand the practice of social responsibility and become a paragon among all universities.

Starting from the refinement of teaching and the integration of research projects to industry-university cooperation and innovation incubation, NCCU will lead a virtuous cycle of teaching, research and social practice. At the same time, NCCU strives for industry-academia cooperation in many ways and provides students with experimental fields of innovation and entrepreneurship. With the help of teachers and students, NCCU will upgrade the cross-sector curriculum by benefiting the locals, cooperating with the industry, and introducing benchmarking enterprises. With the social practices of humanities and technological talents cultivated by NCCU, Taiwan society will progress in many ways.
NCCU FinTech Research Center (FTRC) has established for one year and has been actively cooperating with international FinTech industry. On September 15, the center signed a memorandum of cooperation with FinEX Asia, Dianrong. com, AMTD Group, L.R. Capital, Upgrade, Singapore Management University and Hong Kong University of Science and Technology. This symbolises the official start of the Fintech Head-Start Program. It is expected that during the next summer vacation six to eight students will be granted internship opportunities to work in Silicon Valley, Shanghai or Hong Kong. Students with outstanding performances will be provided with full-time jobs in FinEX Asia or Dianrong, com.
FinTech Global Research and Industry Alliance Center is officially established in NCCU on October 18th this year. Wang Lee-ling(王儷玲), the vice president of NCCU, serves as chief operating officer. Indicated by President Edward Chou, NCCU expects to help with Taiwan’s FinTech industry innovation under the guidance of the government’s policies. Wang Lee-ling pointed out that NCCU FinTech Center has conducted many research projects associated with AI FinTech. As for Pepper, after stationed in NCCU, it can combine bigdata analysis and mechanics to enhance the visual and speech recognition function, which enable the robots to distinguish the identities accurately. The strong connection between AI Pepper Lab and Fintech facilitate the combination of AI and Fintech application, promoting the development of Taiwan’s AI research and leading to more Fintech innovations.
NCCU International Master of Business Administration (IMBA) will cooperate with Taipei 101 from the next year and select several foreign students to be interns and forming an "international think tank". IMBA will also hold a flash course at Taipei 101. Aiming to create a win-win situation, the course will share the latest applications of Internet of things, big data analysis and other popular issues with Taipei 101 employees.
Other achievements of NCCU industry-university cooperation include Wieson Technologies(驊陞科技) licensing "Smart Green" technology to the school, developing Guidance APP with Taipei 101,creating fintech technological classrooms with Taiwan's Samsung Electronics(台灣三星電子), engaging in the fintech and cultural creativity with Institute for Information Industry(資策會), building a "university lecture hall" with Sinyi Realty Inc.(信義房屋) and Center of Corporate Sustainability(臺灣永續研訓中心), and promoting industrial upgrading on supply chain management with WPG Holdings(大聯大控股). With the deeds mentioned above, NCCU is confident in actualizing social engagement through industry-academic cooperation and integration of academic research with industrial development.
