Nearly 500 alumni crowded the Sihwei Hall of the National Chengchi University (NCCU) for the annual homecoming day on May 14.
There were more than 40 tables filled with hilarity. For most alumni, the Sihwei Hall is one of the most unforgettable landscapes on the campus, which became the best reason for the building to become the location for the reunion. The 46th alumni donated NT$3,600,000 to NCCU Hsin Chuan Scholarship, helping students with financial difficulties to finish college.
"We just donate whatever we can to help out and encourage young kids," said Klemens Chang (張豐松), a Class 1986 alumnus from the Department of Money and Banking.
The NCCU Alumni Choir, which has been established for 39 years, sang two songs during the activity.
"We got a strong bond of sympathy between not only members of the group, but also the choir and the campus," said Peter Chao (趙德樞), a Class 1968 alumnus from the Department of Law.
Wawa (金智娟), a renowned entertainer, was also invited to the event for a performance. She was the former vocalist of Chiu Chiu, a local rock band in the 80’s. Wawa sang "It's Tonight ," one of their well-known hits back in the era, which also reminded alumni of their old school days.
Class 1986 alumna Pauline Wang (王惠琳) returned to the campus from Hong Kong for the reunion, said that Chiu Chiu’s songs did refresh her memories.
"'Fool on the Embankment,' another hit of Chiu Chiu’s, was talking about life at NCCU and that was exactly what we once lived," Wang said.
