More than 200 alumni of National Chengchi University (NCCU), with some of them accompanied by their spouses, gathered on March 15 to attend the camping trip to reminisce their college days.
The camping trip was a warm-up activity of NCCU’s 60th anniversary of reestablishment in Taiwan. A lecturer from the community college of Taipei City’s Wenshan district was invited as the tour guide to describe the environment and history along the way.
Tannia Liu (劉熙玲), an alumna of the MBA program at NCCU, said it was touching to see people willing to spend time exploring and taking care of Wenshan community, in which she has been living since her college days.
Liu’s husband, who was also her classmate in NCCU, said he could never forget listening to Tom Chang (張雨生), a famous singer who graduated from NCCU in 1989. He said that Chang sang beautifully at a square on campus before his rising to fame.
Some alumni who were important contributors to the development of NCCU also joined the activity.
Former NCCU President Chang King-yuh(張京育), who was also a postgraduate of the university’s Department of Diplomacy in 1961, is almost 80 years old, but he completed the entire trip.
Zhinan Temple President Gao Chung-hsin (高忠信) praised NCCU’s long-term efforts in cultivating talents. He gave the 60 married couples who joined the trip a pair of Chinese tea cups and wished them happiness.
The trip ended with the visit to the exhibition of ink wash paintings by Lee Hsien-wen (李賢文), which depicts the scenery of Wenshan district.
