    NCCU Opens its Doors for a massive Delegation of Japanese University Representatives and High School Principals

    A visiting delegation from Japan, consisting of representatives of 8 different universities and 6 high school principals, has been cordially received by NCCU’s Office of International Cooperation (OIC) on August 7. Vice President for International Cooperation Prof. Mei-Fen Chen, the Dean of the Office of Academic Affairs Prof. Naiming Yu, and Prof. Chun-I Chen from the Department of Diplomacy and Law facilitated the event and successfully established an energetic and stimulating platform of exchange between both sides. Initiated by the Taiwan Education Center Japan, the meeting provided ample opportunities for all attendees to get to know one another, to promote ideas, and to share each other’s academic visions.

    On a Joint Mission Towards the Future of Foreign Language Learning – NCCU Received a Presidential Visit by Busan University of Foreign Studies

    National Chengchi University was being honored with a presidential visit by the Busan University of Foreign Studies (BUFS) on June 25. During the meeting, both sides engaged in discussions on the major challenges and opportunities that the advancement of technology is bringing to foreign language departments. As the internet and its various sources for foreign language learning offer students unprecedented opportunities to learn a language independently, both universities acknowledge the necessity to explore new avenues on how languages are to be taught.

    Strengthening Ties with Hong Kong’s Academic Powerhouses - NCCU Meets with 3 of Its Partner Universities

    In the context of the fifth Cross-strait Forum on Education of Modern Colleges held by the Chinese University of Hong Kong from July 17 to July 20, NCCU delegation set forth on a journey to one of Asia’s most vibrant cities. Consisting of NCCU President Prof Edward Chow, Vice President for International Cooperation Prof. Mei-Fen Chen, and the Director of NCCU’s Center for China Studies Prof. Ching-Ping Tang, NCCU representatives did not only attend the event, but also utilized this unique opportunity to visit three partner universities.

    Strengthening Cooperation with Southeast Asia: Opening the first conversation with the University of Foreign Language Studies – University of Danang

    The visit of Dr. Tran Huu Phuc, Rector of the University of Foreign Language Studies – University of Danang, on June 22 marks an auspicious start for the future possible partnership with National Chengchi University. Invited by the Ministry of Education, Dr. Tran Huu Phuc - along with his family – met with NCCU Executive Vice President Prof. Chun-Chig Chang and Vice President for International Cooperation Prof. Mei-Fen Chen and discussed future collaboration possibilities. A particular focus during the talk thereby represented the promotion of Vietnamese language and cultural studies in Taiwan.

    NCCU Hosts the Very First QS Workshop on Branding and Rankings in Taiwan

    While NCCU is considered a top university with particular strengths in social science and humanities, NCCU President Edward Chow (周行一) reminded everyone about the importance of university rankings for Taiwan's institutions of higher education. That is, especially in the light of more and more powerful regional competitors from Singapore (Singaporean universities; in fact, occupy the top two positions in the 2018 QS Asia University Rankings), Hong Kong, China, South Korea, and Japan. NCCU, having being honored to serve as the host of the first QS Workshop on “Branding and Rankings” in Taiwan, therefore attracted numerous high-level guests from universities all across the island on April 26.

    NCCU Fuels Partnership with the University of Ottawa by Signing a Memorandum of Understanding

    The Canadian delegation, among them the President and Vice-Chancellor of the University of Ottawa, Jacques Frémont, and Project Officer Vincent Lacroix-Cuerrier, realized their long-awaited visit to National Chengchi University on April 25. Warmly welcomed by NCCU President Prof. Edward Chow (周行一) and Dean of the Office of International Affairs Prof. Mei-Fen Chen (陳美芬), both sides took part in the momentous signing ceremony. The agreement provides an opportunity for both institutions to extend their cooperation beyond the former contract between NCCU's College of Commerce and the Telfer School of Management at the University of Ottawa.

    President Chow is awarded an Honorary Doctorate in Education from SKKU

    President Edward Chow was awarded an Honorary Doctorate in Education from Sungkyunkwan University, South Korea, on April 19, to recognize his long-term dedication in education and advancement on the academic cooperation between two universities.

    Students from Diplomacy win the “Distinguished Delegation Award” at 2018 National Model United Nations in New York

    In late March, playing the role of the Guatemalan Permanent Mission to the United Nations (UN), 18 undergraduate and MA students from Department of Diplomacy, National Chengchi University (NCCU) received the “Distinguished Delegation Award” from the 2018 National Model United Nations (NMUN) in New York City, a 5-day international conference that has invited the largest number of students from all over the world to join a model-UN simulation.

    Prof. Tao Ya-Lun Won the New Media Art Installation Award at the 9th MADATAC in Spain

    Professor Tao Ya-Lun (陶亞倫) of the Master’s Program in Digital Content & Technologies of NCCU was invited to the 9th Contemporary Audio-Visual & New Media Arts Festival (MADATAC) in Madrid, Spain, and won the “New Media Art Installation Award” among 72 new media artist competitors from 33 countries.
