    [2019 NCCU IMBA Information Session] IMBA welcomes their new prospective candidates as Alumni and current students shared their insightful experiences

    On Saturday November 3, the International Master in Business Administration (IMBA) program held their annual information session for prospective candidates. The Yuanta Lecture Hall at the College of Commerce was filled with over a hundred potential students in search of information about the program and its features. The session began with a speech from Professor Shari Shang, Director of the IMBA program, as she explained about the many advantages of this master including an academic distinguished faculty, a multicultural environment and the opportunity to study abroad through the dual-degree or exchange programs.

    New partnership with new but promising University in Indonesia—Pertamina University

    Delegation of Pertamina University – one of Indonesia’s youngest institutions of higher education – has made their second visit to National Chengchi University on November 2. Rector Prof. Dr. Akhmaloka, also former Rector of Bandung Institute of Technology from 2010-2015, and Vice Rector for Research, Development and Partnership Dr. Budi Soetjipto had initiated the discussions on cooperation with NCCU earlier this May. Thus, the basis for an agreement and plans on collaborative activities had already been formed prior to the representatives’ arrival on campus this time. Both sides signed Memorandum of Understanding and Addendum following a final round of fruitful discussions.

    ACMC successfully ends, and thanks NCCU for taking home

    The last day marks a temporary ending for the ACMC conference in Taiwan, 2018. Dr. Theodore A. Fernando was first to give his ending remarks on how this event held once every two years contributes to the networking between scholars of different regions, “We come and exchange our researches. We get different knowledge change from interesting keynote speakers, and also we learn about our own mistakes.” Dr. Fernando gave his best wishes for ACMC, and he hoped for more members to join in the future.

    NCCU’s 2018 Study Abroad Fair Attracts A Large Audience of Local Students and Stirs Up Curiosity over Student Exchange Opportunities

    NCCU’s annual Study Abroad Fair has just come to an end, having provided four days full of information, experience sharing, and resources for everyone interested in going on an exchange abroad. The fair, organized by the Office of International Cooperation (OIC), took place from October 22 to October 25 and aimed at exciting curiosity and provoking interest in an education overseas. Under the motto of expanding NCCU students’ horizon, Si Wei Hall - which served as the venue of the opening day event - was flooded with inquisitive and enthusiastic students on Monday afternoon. A total of 52 booths of NCCU’s partner universities offered visitors the opportunity to interact and consult with the student representatives of the various schools. In that way, attendees were able to receive first-hand information on topics such as student life, academic aspects, and cultural elements.

    Communication practitioners shed light on present developments of media in Asia

    ​To start off the second day’s event, secretary of media studies, ACMC, Khairiah Rahman introduced Dr. Alexander Flor, Dean from University of the Philippines. Dr. Flor firstly made acknowledgments to ACMC for holding the event. Then, he talked about his observation on how media coverage was related to stock market movements. To follow, Dr. Flor gave five instances of theoretical constructs of development communication (C4D). ”Have we ever considered the possibility that development is led by communication?” As an advocator of C4D, he encouraged the idea for researchers of communication to look into the “phonetics of life”. These studies contain methods that break down information in daily life, in order to understand the underlying contexts.

    ACMC and NCCU collaborate to spark discussions on new media issues.

    The Asian Congress for Media and Communication (ACMC) took place at National Chengchi University (NCCU) on Saturday, October 27th. It began with an introduction video of NCCU. The video included all different schools of the university and research centers, research programs, international exchange programs and so forth. After the video presentation, there was the flags entrance ceremony, as guests stood up in honor of the school anthem and the flags. After the opening ceremony, President Edward Chou gave a brief speech to welcome all participants from 22 countries, Dr. Chou also wished everyone a great stay during their three days in Taipei.

    Czech Culture cultivated in Taiwan

    On October 18th 2018, Mr. Representative Rumlar and Deputy Representative Ms. Taborska of the Czech Economic and Cultural Office in Taipei officially visited our Department of Slavic Languages and Literature. The purpose of this visit, in addition to strengthen the mutual academic cooperation and promotion, is mainly to hand over the two sets of Czech traditional costumes from the Centre for International Cooperation in Education in Prague (DZS/Dům zahraniční spolupráce) to our Department of Slavic Languages and Literature.

    NCCU Receives the 2018 Outstanding International Student Services Award

    Taiwan’s Ministry of Education (MOE) and the Foundation of International Cooperation in Higher Education of Taiwan (FICHET) have jointly held the “2018 International Affairs Executive Board Conference” at the Taipei International Convention Center on October 11. Striving towards the goal of internationalizing Taiwanese university campuses, several universities and individual university staffs from all over Taiwan have been evaluated throughout the past months. That is, in order to acknowledge those universities and individuals, who have extensively contributed in supporting international students in Taiwan. Eventually, and following an intensive selection process involving a review team as well as a number of invited scholars and distinguished experts, four outstanding schools have been rewarded. Vice President for International Cooperation, Prof. Mei-Fen Chen, attended the ceremony and accepted this honorable prize on behalf of the university.

    Russia’s Flagship University in Education Visits NCCU –Student and Faculty Exchange Program with MSPU Will Start Soon

    September 20 marks the day of the prestigious visit of three high-ranking representatives of Moscow State Pedagogical University (MSPU) to NCCU. Upon invitation by the Taiwanese Ministry of Education (MOE), MSPU Rector Dr. Alexey Lubkov, Director of Foreign Languages Institute Mr. Sergey Zasorin, and the Deputy Head of MSPU’s International Relations Office Ms. Olga Morozova embarked on a weeklong journey to Taiwan from September 16 to September 22. Signifying an important endeavor for international cooperation in the sphere of education between both sides, the visit culminated in the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding as well as an Addendum to the MoU.
